The Senior Vice President, Marketing & Media, will hold the primary responsibility for developing and managing the consumer marketing strategy for the organization – to include brand and creative services, consumer PR and social media, acquisition media and customer marketing. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Consumer Experience business unit, the SVP, Media & Marketing will be responsible for driving consumer brand value, new business growth and retention. As a result, the SVP will play a pivotal role in delivering business results in support of CUNA Mutual’s overall consumer experience strategy.
This leader will be adept at delivering results in fast-paced and collaborative environments with a focus on building and leveraging relationships in order to offer innovative solutions and serve customers. S/he must be passionate about the customer experience, affecting a positive social impact and always doing things the right way.
The SVP, Marketing & Media will direct and manage a marketing budget of $150M+ and oversee the full consumer media mix and spectrum for the organization with a heavy emphasis on direct marketing, proven results in campaign acceleration and marketing mix analytics.
The role leads a high-performing team of 75+ individuals that includes a VP of Creative Marketing, VP of Consumer Marketing and VP of Acquisition, as well as a number of other specialized personnel. Operating as part of a highly collaborative, nimble, and matrixed organization, the SVP will partner closely with stakeholders across the company to include the Head of Product Solutions, the Head of Strategy and Analytics, the Head of Consumer Sales and Customer Care, etc. This leader will partner closely with the data team to be opportunistic about every customer touchpoint and maximize opportunities through the entire marketing funnel.
Additional key responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Develops and leads execution of annual and long-term marketing plan for CUNA Mutual Consumer Experience strategy, including leadership of branding strategy and management, advertising and media selection.
Ensures application of market segmentation information to develop effective marketing strategies.
Determines key value drivers to define and deliver new business capabilities in support of business and sales objectives.
Serves as a senior member of the company’s brand council.
Establishes, communicates and implements departmental plans, objectives and strategies, and gains support from relevant stakeholders.
Establishes, refines and manages a dashboard of key performance indicators. Evaluates program effectiveness and makes adjustments to ensure results.
Manages and develops staff, attracts new talent to the organization, and provides performance feedback. Creates a common vision and sets clear objectives for staff.
Remains keenly aware of new consumer behavior, monitors competition and market trends to drive new features, and works closely with the sales team/Customer Service to develop innovative solutions for marketing CUNA Mutual products and services.Critical skills and experiences in the following:
Significant experience leading large-scale direct media programs.
Proven leadership in consumer marketing with advanced knowledge of digital marketing capabilities – particularly, fluency in cutting-edge tools, practices and platforms in digital, social and other areas of direct marketing.
Experience in DRTV and DR Print creative and campaign management.
Demonstrated record of leveraging insight and data analysis to determine the best ways to exceed customer needs and business targets.
Strong interpersonal skills to enable the significant internal partnering and coordination required in the position.
Ability to implement strategies and be nimble – pivoting quickly to modify and optimize investment and test new channels.
Brings strong media mix modeling experience.
Possesses a strong creative sensibility, leadership skills and analytical ability.
Exceptional written and verbal communications skills, including presenting to large groups of people and senior management. Possesses an ability to communicate and inspire at all levels, including addressing opportunities, risks, and strategic positioning with business and technology leaders.
Must possess ability to positively influence/inspire people and be proficient at establishing relationships with cross-functional peers and senior management.
Experience architecting and shaping consumer experience in a complex environment.
Proven track record of displaying ownership. Urgency and sound decision making skills.
Extensive experience planning and managing large-scale, strategic marketing initiatives, including capital planning, across matrixed organizations.
Superb leadership record having created positive, highly energized performance climates with clear points of accountability. Demonstrates inclusive thinking and practices.
Knowledge of financial services/insurance marketing practices is not a requisite.
